Soldier life and technology over 100 years
In the military area, you can explore military history and the development of technology and equipment laid out in a timeline of small camps.
Here you will experience the American Civil War which can be described as the first industrial war, it started with leaving rifles and soldiers in straight lines to be settled with railways and armored ships.
Then you can meet the 1st World War, which, although it is characterized by standstill in the trenches, technology really took leaps and bounds where tanks and fighter planes were invented and put into use in just a few years. Experience a trench and the soldiers' equipment.
You can follow this development into the Second World War, where the technological war took another giant leap. In this area they can find vehicles, weapons and hear stories about when the war came home to the people and was not just on distant battlefields.
The traces of the atomic bomb from the end of World War 2 can be felt in the last exhibition area, The Cold War never warmed up, but the development of technology and weapons did not stop. In this area you can meet vehicles and personnel from the Cold War.
At Timewinder we present a number of groups who make living history, that is, the groups don uniforms and equipment and behave like people from their respective periods.
Unlike in a museum, here you can get up close and talk to the soldiers and maybe get a chance to see, feel and maybe for a while step into history. The groups live in historic military camps with tents, equipment and weapons from the time.
You finally have to ask questions or get a good story.
It is important to emphasize that all weapons are dummies or disabled for safety.
